We arrived at 1pm at The Bella Vista Motel, much earlier than arranged, but were lucky enough to be able to check in for our 4 night stay. Studio unit was very clean, modern, bright and tidy although small, no cooking facilities other than kettle and toaster, washing up to be done in bathroom washbasin, but very clean and tidy. Tea/coffee etc. replenished daily, fridge, large bed, 2 chairs, t.v. and hairdryer. Guest laundry and garden. Adequate parking, motel situated in quiet area of Te Anau. We had a few problems with prebooked trips, many questions about the local area and found the staff to be pleasant and helpful.
Only a short walk into the centre, lots of shops and restaurants, we tried The Olive Tree and The Sandfly Cafe for tea/coffee, and had dinner at La Dolce Vita
and had dinner at La Dolce Vita and La Toscana and at The Fat Duck twice,.

After a long drive from Dunedin found the Bella vista with no problem at all.
The hosts were very helpful, showeed us to our clean room (which had a microwave etc) and alsao were more than willinmg to discuss the trips available - and even book them if we needed. They also gave us directions around Te Anau which being small didn't take too long.
Bella Vista is clean, centrally located in an area that seems to be developed for the tourist - namely other motels around. Car parking ideal, room good and light airy bathroom.
It is 5 mins walk from the lake and the same from the shops so no need for a car whatsoever.
It is literally 2 mins from the main road to Milford Sound (which later in the day gets very busy) and at night is generally very quiet all round.
Guest laundry here was also very welcomed.
Overall a pleasant stay in quiet and clean surroundings.

We arrived in Te Anua at 9am and started looking for a place to stay that night. The lady at Bella Vista was very friendly and welcoming, offered us a good rate and let us check in then and there which meant we didn't have to take out suitcases and food supplies with us all the way to Milford. The room was clean and comfortable and had a self contained kitchen.
